Last Minute Mother's Day Gift Shopping!

Posted on May 06, 2015 by Katami | 0 comments

As it's getting closer to Mother's Day, I am seeing a lot of rush in, last minute shopping in my gallery. I giggle a little bit as I see clients coming in in a panic mode, because I know I will have a unique gift for them and there is no need to panic.

So, I thought I should put a little list of what I think makes a great Mother's Day gift & creates the search a little bit easier for you.

First off,  the obvious one, I'd start with a few jewellery from my gallery.

Pearl Blossom Ring made by Kate Fehr in my studio. Kate is a Silversmith from Calgary and believe me, she makes everything at her bench. $50.00

Next is a beautiful Sterling silver cast pendant on chain by Carla Smiley. I love the simplicity, yet elegance of this necklace. Mirari $72.00

Leap of Faith, this beautiful Artdeco ring is constructed from scratch by Luyi Wang. I am amazed by the level of talent and vision that this girl has.  $375.00

These tiny triangle earrings cast in Sterling silver, polish an everyday look super quick. Made by another of the talented jewellers at my studio, Eden Philippa. $49.00

And the last of Jewellery is my Libre ring. This ring is a cast Sterling silver and is a reproduction of an out of circle French coin. Love how flawless the woman looks on this coin. $72.00

Now, if you'd like to buy mom something other than jewellery, I can help you there too.

A true one of a kind gift by Karin Marita Jones. She is an exceptional artist from Vancouver and I have the privilege to have a few of her pieces at my gallery. If I were to choose one of her pieces for this list, it would be a picture frame called 'Midnight in the Tropics'. It is 24k gold and silver Damascene and I am so fascinated by the craftsmanship of this piece.

Next up is our current artist that I am exhibiting, Rachael Ashe, who is amazingly talented. She hand cuts paper with a tiny X-acto knife. You have to see it to believe it. Our reception night is tomorrow, Thursday May 7th from 6:30-8:30pm at my gallery. Drop by and see it for yourself @ 138 E. Broadway.  If I were to choose one from her collection, it would be this hand drawn piece called Ecosystem. $200.00

If mom likes pottery, there are a few pieces that you can choose from an emerging artist, Shahla B. Each piece is unique and is not your mass produced traditional design. Every piece is made with love by hand with lead free material that you can cook in them! How lovely is that? Mom doesn't have to dust the pottery you buy, she can actually use it! Her pieces have already been featured on one of my favourite food blogs in Vancouver, fouramogstthree.com

This photo is courtesy of Four amongst Three and taken by a talented photographer Brett Ryan Studios

Remember you will receive 10% off tomorrow night at our opening reception.

If you can't make it, you can still create a great day for mom by clicking here and purchasing a gift package at Bloedel Floral Conservatory. I will be there with a few of my artists to greet mom & the rest of your family to celebrate her.

Hope to see you all!
