Refurbish and Refresh!

During the month of January we decided to try something a little bit different at Katami Designs. We wanted to give people the opportunity to re-design their heirloom jewelry in order to keep it relevant to their own personal style, as well as today's fashion trends. Those interested could meet with Negar Khatami for a free custom jewellery consultation to help them transform their sentimental, old-fashioned jewellery into contemporary and unique pieces. Negar Khatami's Otas Collection

Otas (оташ) pronounced Otash, Tajik for fire, is the newest collection by Negar Khatami for Summer 2016. These bracelets feature antique tassels from a tiny little shop at Grand Bazaar in Istanbul that Negar hand picked. They are handmade by Tajik women to decorate their homes. When Negar handpicked these tassels in Turkey, she pictured the women creating these magnificent pieces. They create them to adorn their homes and caravans that their husband would travel with, wishing them luck and safety until they returned home. I had the opportunity to meet a young lady on my last event 'Exquisite Lines' who was so fascinated and curious as to how I make jewellery. As you all know, the wedding season is on its way and for me as a Goldsmith, I become more on demand for creating wedding bands, repurposing stones or recycling old precious metal jewelry for a fresh start.
