Refurbish and Refresh!
Posted by Negar Khatami on
During the month of January we decided to try something a little bit different at Katami Designs. We wanted to give people the opportunity to re-design their heirloom jewelry in order to keep it relevant to their own personal style, as well as today's fashion trends. I must say, we currently have some truly one-of-a-kind pieces in the making! Here is a little sneak peak of a finished piece we re-designed for Vancouver personal stylist, Michelle Addison....

A Holiday Celebration with Alistair MacRae!
Posted by Negar Khatami on
Last Thursday marked the opening of our latest exhibition, Material Narratives, a collection of vibrant and dynamic abstract paintings by local visual artist, Alistair MacRae. We celebrated the holiday season as one should, surrounded by art, wine, live music, and friends both new and old! What a great way to spend a cold December eve, surrounded by stunning local art and jewelry! Alistair MacRae has spent close to a decade developing his art practice through intensive studio-work and studies conducted in the UK and Europe. He has lived in many different cities until recently settling down in Vancouver, where he works...

Kieron Williamson - Plein Air Paintings
Posted by Negar Khatami on
With winter rapidly approaching, we have begun to pull out our best sweaters from storage and prepare for the holiday season in style! We have decided to go about things a bit differently this time around, drawing our focus to the creative youths that fill our lives with joy. 'Potato Patch, Twilight', 2016, Oil on Board This November, we will proudly be featuring the work of Kieron Williamson, a 14-year-old painting prodigy from Holt, Norfolk in England. Kieron began painting at the age of five, and has since then developed a passion for oil, watercolour, and pastel, which quickly developed into an extremely successful artistic...

New Acrostic Collection
Posted by Negar Khatami on
Negar Khatami has just launched her new Acrostic collection, in which she has put a modern and sophisticated twist on an age-old literary device. These unique and exquisite pieces are cast in 14K gold and set with hand-selected precious stones. The first of each stone represents that same letter in the alphabet, thus enabling the wearer to sport a hidden word or phrase in an acrostic fashion. Note that each elegant, diamond-shaped pendant is adorned with a different precious stone, instilling the collection with a timeless quality. You can view and purchase this collection online, and choose from a variety...

Hermès at Work: My Experience
Posted by Negar Khatami on
On Sunday, September 25th, I was able to catch the last day of the travelling "Hermès at Work" exhibition at the Jack Pool Plaza in Coal Harbour Vancouver. The event, which allows the skilled craftspeople that have made this brand endure for over a century, gave me a chance to interact with some of these individuals and witness their elaborate methods of creation. "Hermès at Work" fulfilled all of my expectations and then some. It was so refreshing to see the extraordinary attention to detail involved in the creation of each and every piece. It became obvious to me very quickly that this brand has been...
